Entrepreneurs Think Tank

This new group is for everyone who has dreamed about starting a business or turning a pastime into a paying venture. If you run an enterprise of any kind and would benefit from a sounding board or problem-solving platform, or if you've owned a business in the past, or you think learning about business strategies might benefit you, come share your experience and curiosity. Monthly meetings are in members’ homes and include group sharing sessions, guest speakers and an occasional field trip. Meeting days and times will be set based on participant availability and may vary from month to month.

Foto Fun

Foto Fun is made up of members who are interested in photography and enjoy taking pictures. We plan our monthly outings to reflect our interesting in taking pictures and going to interesting places, but do not have a set day or week for our outings. We have members who use their mobile phones or tablets, as well as those who have more sophisticated cameras. All that is required is a sense of adventure and a camera.

Genealogy

Have you been thinking of researching your ancestors or have you already started a family tree but are having problems finding those ancestors farther back? Join the new Genealogy Interest Group. Meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Anne Arundel County Public Library system has a wealth of genealogical resources. Bring a brown bag lunch and drink, and your laptop or iPad to look up topics online during our discussions. Meetings include time to work in small groups to further our research.

German Conversation Group

This group meets on the third Friday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Even if you have only basic school German, think about joining this group for a monthly social gathering that includes coffee, tea and snacks. They converse in German at all levels about anything that interests them.

Great Decisions

Great Decisions meets on the second or third Friday of each month at 1 p.m. The group starts each meeting with the 2017 Foreign Policy Association’s Briefing Book.

Music Lovers’ Circle

This group of music lovers enjoys the opportunity to share musical experiences together. The group shares information about musical happenings in the area, and meets for an activity if they are interested. The group also schedules occasional events which generally include a tour, musical performance and dining out.

Needlework Group

This group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month, 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. If you sew, knit, crochet, mend, darn, smock or do needlepoint or tapestry, or if you want to get some help working these crafts, you will enjoy this group. The host for each meeting provides finger food and drink.

Recollections

Recollections meets on the second Monday of each month at 2 p.m. They share short pieces that they have written from their own experiences or insights. The topic is selected by the host, and members come to the meeting with a 2-3 page written response, having interpreted the prompt in whatever way they chose, and read them to the group. These musings or recollections are from childhood, adolescence and adulthood and allow members to share themselves with others in a safe environment. All things shared by others are agreed to be held in confidence. The focus is not on writing style or expertise. There is no critiquing of the writing, only sharing with supportive friends. New members are not required to write a paper the first time they visit.

Spanish Conversation Group

This lively group includes native speakers of Spanish, those married to native speakers of Spanish, those who have lived in Spanish-speaking countries or anyone who wants to refresh their language skills. They meet for lunch monthly at local Latin American restaurants to enjoy each other’s company and speak Spanish.
